I have disassembled my PS3 to be able to play ps2 backups by swaping the disc while the bluray drive is (uncovered), it worked fine but I can't play my games now for more than 10-15 minutes! then(The whole system turns off everytime without beeping sound or red blinking light)
I have tried to listen to music on the XMB, then (it sounds like an overheat with red blinking light and some smokes!)
I just want a solution guys please help.
I did some search on google and it seems like no one had any problem doing the swap trick by uncovering the bluray drive...
Is my PS3 going to be fine if I assembled it again?
or if there is something I missed to do while disassmebling my PS3?

The way I hear it, that 10-15 minute issue is fairly common.
As far as the heat issue goes, that's probably... well, I can't be sure. If it's overheating and actually smoking, you've probably got a hardware issue that needs taking care of ASAP. Wouldn't want to burn down your house, would you?
