Reading the comments is quite more informative than the actual article.

Xbox 360: On my fourth console, first one rrod 3 times, second one sold at ebay because of no HDMI, third one rrod during flashing (supposedly killed that drive), fourth one up and working on LT 3.0
PSP: Slim&Lite 2004 model with 6,60 ME v1.3
PS3: 60 Gig Model with the latest official firmware for going online and a modified case for better cooling
PSVita: Need some games for it, just bought an 8 GB memory card at ebay, awaiting a Photofast addapter for MicroSD-cards.

Not rubbish and not rumors...many of the fears have not happened, but just about anything is possible with a backdoor and the system master key.

ROFL!!!!!!

The article states that if your planning on modifying your ps3 then yes its a problem. Hes basically speaking on behalf of the non-modded ps3's and how this wont affect a non-modded ps3. But with modded consoles yes. Thats what i got from it. The douche doesnt notice that the people worried about whats in 3.56 are people with modded ps3's.

Quote from register/co/uk, "Comparing this to the PS3 firmware update misunderstands what has actually been done or the practical risks of the move, according to Boyd.

"This is only really a concern if you're interested in modding - otherwise I'm not convinced there's a 'threat' as such," Boyd told El Reg. "I'm still waiting for someone to explain how this 'PS3 rootkit' could be used to run unsigned malicious code on a non-jailbroken box," he added.

You got that backwards...future CFWs will strip this out so sony has no access, while OFW users will continue to have a massive, open back door. Some argue that only sony can get it...does that mean you want sony to have access to your home movies and photos? I sure don't trust them.

I wouldn't put it past sony to try using the rootkit to go after people who are backing up their CDs using the built-in CD ripper app. I honestly would not be surprised to see sony suing people for "illegally" backing up CDs purchased from Sony BGM...they have shown that they have absolutely no worries about alienating customers, bringing false accusations, or breaking consumer protection laws. Heck, they even act like they never heard of the DMCA...at least until they decide to sue someone, then they seem to remember it.
