Trouble with Fifa 2010 on Ps3

Hi all, my son bought Fifa 2010 for his PS3 but soon as he starts a 2 player game the screen freezes. At first I thought it may be a fault with the game itself so I exchanged it in the shop it was bought in but no joy, still the same. The guy in the shop seems to think it's the controller but on swapping them with a friends it's still the same. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem or have any ideas. Cheers in Advance.

I have the same problem with my ps3. i started a multiplayer match and it froze 10secs in. after restarting it now freezes randomly on fifa10, even in main menu. do u know if this is a reported ps3 problem, as i have heard if effects other games too?IS there a known solution to fix it or would i have to replace my console?
I ain't phased!

Not sure as to any solution, I thought someone on here might have some ideas. It's only on multiplayer it happens, on single player it works fine, strange!!!

What firmware are you using on the ps3? Maybe that could be the issue.

There seems to be a lot of problems with fifa 10 at the moment and it's not just the ps3 but also the xbox (so basically its the game!)
Gameface is not working which is causing people to go very crazy on the ea sports website and Live Season 2 has been taken down as well.
It seems they have released the game too early but we live in hope that it is all fixed soon and everything comes back online.
Hopefully there will be some updates to the game that fix these problems so I would highly recommend you have the ps3 online.
Finally, I wouldn't look for any help from EA as they seem to be hiding at the moment as there are no official reasons for all the problems!

Thanks for your reply, I do have the PS3 online so hopefully something can be sorted soon. It's strange as I brought the whole console and controllers into the shop I bought the game and it seemed to work fine with different controllers, and the game works fine on a different console as my son tried it with a friends, yet when I use diff controllers at home it just freezes again, it's very annoying..

My son's PS3 game has just developed this problem as well. Was ok last week but now just freezes at kick-off when in 2 player mode.
Has anyone found a fix for this?
Had intended to look for a replacement copy but looking at comments here, that may not fix the problem...

Managed to rectify the problem... I just went into the PS3 settings and restored to default settings. Restarted the PS3 and went through the initial set-up. Started FIFA 2010 and now it plays two player mode again with no freezing issues...

hey all
i also have problem on fifa 2010 (ps3) 2player, it freezes everytime i try n play. i dnt now what 2 do?? i dnt ave online so cnt get a patch...help please!!

I manage to resolve the issue by reassigning the controller 2 to another number. While you are in Fifa10 then reassign your controller from number 2 to any other available number by clicking the round button in between the 2 joy stick. This should stop the freezing.

hi ive just brought fifa 10 it worked online on my ps3 great downloaded an update for the game,the next time i turned it on the game loaded and came to signing in to the network as prompted and after that the msic carries on playing but the game has almost crashed just the start up screen of wayne rooney,controller wont do anythink apart from turn of the system.will load if i dont choose to sign in to the network.but something definatetely not right since either playing the game or installing update. any one had simmilar experience.. i also tried 09 and would not sign in to the servers.but can perform donloads and can visit playstation store!!! weird!

This is how EA sports does things. They release the game a year too early, release a couple of patches that do little to fix problems, and often cause worse problems, then they release the next game a year after the first, and cut off support the old, yet unfinished game (sometimes they even take the servers down in order to force players to buy the new version that isn't even a bug fix). If I see "EA" on a game's packaging, it is dissapointing...that's one game I won't be getting no matter how good it looks.

hey ya, its a simple problem believe it or not, and u do not need to restore or change controller number, just Enter the controller settings, and you will see that everything is "undifined". Press default, and it is fixed.
