In need of help/guidance/assistance/slap!

I have a PS3 and upgraded the 60gb HDD to 160GB with the intention of running Ubuntu.

Ubuntu's Installation won't select/detect the HDD at the partitioning select screen. Even after changing the HDD for a bigger 250gb SATA drive it still won't give me the option of creating a partition on the HDD.
But JUST MY LUCK that it installed on the standard 60GB playstation HDD.

I have formatted the HDD several times, using FAT32, XBM format menu and even allocated 10gb to other OS in the XBM...

Please help!!!!

A Box of chocolates to the first person to resolve this for me (promise!)

Here is an idea for you:
Install & setup Ubuntu on the 60GB. Then, put in the 250GB or 160GB and do the PS3 format utility, making a space for the "other os" install. Now plug the 60GB and the 250/160GB drive (that you just formated) into a PC. Use a cloning program to copy the contents of the 60GB drive's linux install to where the 250/160GB drives linux install would go.

I like Chocolate covered turtles.

Great idea but it didnt work unfortunately. :(

Not to worry though, i managed to get it installed on the new 250gb hDD and Ubuntu 9.1 is up and running.

I only have to figure out (being a newbie) how to adjust the screen size to remove the black border, where to download good themes from and a few other post installation tweaks.

Thank you for your post.
