I was playing a movie through Mplayer ce using samba and it crashes randomly. So i did a little research and found out that they want you to install this usb 2 cios. The guide they gave is here [url=http://code.google.com/p/mplayer-ce/wiki/USB20][/url]. I followed the softmod guide from here and I'm just wondering how I should go about doing this. Maybe we could make a guide because this seems to be a common problem and samba movie streaming is pretty cool. I'm guessing i use ios 249 to install but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance.

He didn't fail to install it, he's afraid to install it without assurance from a more knowing member of the board.

The USB2 install is extremely risky from what I've read, and you have to downgrade some of your IOS to get the trucha bug before you do it.

I'm sure he's just wanting a bit of guidance on how to get the trucha bug back on his Wii and get the USB2 working.

I almost did all of this last night, but I put it off because it was too late. I haven't gotten a chance to mess around with it today, but when I do, I can make a post about what I did, if you're interested. I've been having the same problems with MPlayer CE. I thought it might just be due to it being new and still containing many bugs, but I'm hoping I can fix all these problems with USB 2.0.

Yup robotick that's exactly what I want. I can't install bootmii on boot2 so i don't want to take any chances. I just want someone who followed the guide here to tell me what they did because I think that some of the things mentioned might have already been accomplished in the softmod guide and that maybe some of the steps could be adapted to fit what is in that guide. I think I've already done the trucha part but I'm not sure if the fake sign is part of cios rev14. Sorry I just like things spelled out for me.And the make a guide part was just so people that just softmoded their console can knock samba out without doing any more research.

I understand your concern. It's scary doing some of this stuff.

I'm going to back up my latest NAND tomorrow and then try running through the guide to install USB2. I went out of town today and wasn't able to do it, and I got back way too late. When I do do it, though, I will make a post here letting you know how it went. I'll also check some of the glitches I've had with MPlayer CE and mention whether or not they continue.

EDIT: Sigh.. I left the Wiimote where I was staying out of town. So, it looks like it's going to be a little longer before I am able to install the USB2 stuff. :(
