mplayer failing to work following softmod on 4.2e Wii

did the softmod guide and it worked like treat.thanks larry.a little later in the story i found the mplayer will not work despite installing dvdx, the menu of the player just freezes when play dvd is entered.have i done something wrong or is there a fix.
