Try using the GeckoOS loader first : http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Gecko_OS
This loader is special because it usually allows you to play games without updating the console. In some cases it may not work, but it does most of the time. If it doesn't work it usually means that the game needs a new IOS installed before it will play

I have a similar inquiry...
I have some questions prior to updating to 4.3. I have a USA wii with wiikey 2 installed. I have read in some places about problems with wiikey 2 and automated updates from nintendo but I need to know some things before I update...
1) Should I be installing priiloader as a safety net first or is that just an additional risk?
2) Is it safer to update from the wifi link so as to make sure the region is correct?
3) ..AND THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION...Is there any way that updating would brick my wii?

Firstly, I fail to see why you would want to update to 4.3. I'm not trying to be rude, but if you read around the internet, there are several people who have encountered problems while updating with Wiikeys installed. Most games can be made to work without updating the console's firmware. You should also know that If you update you will most likely lose your region-free functionality on your modchip (If you aren't already on 4.2 firmware).
Anyway if you think you should update, here are your answers:
1) Priiloader on it's own is pretty useless without some kind of softmods previously installed on the Wii to go with it (e.g The Homebrew Channel).
2) In theory it should be, however I don't think it matters either way.
3) In your particular situation, there are only a few ways your wii could brick:
- The update fails due to a power blackout (Highly Unlikely)
- The update fails to install correctly (Highly Unlikely)
- The update Bricks your console with "Error 003" because your console has been region-changed from KOR to NTSC-U.
Update at your own risk.
Anyway if you think you should update, here are your answers:

For the record, I made sure I was not connected to the internet as usual, did the update and Rock Band 3 worked fine for me. It was not a firmware update it needed to do apparently and all is good.
