Updating homebrew, priiloader, usb loader gx

Hello.
I have softmodded my wii, and as expected, new things appeared on the system. The ones i am concerned with are:
Homebrew channel
Priiloader
USB Loader GX
My questions are:
1) Do any or all of the aforementioned software have to be updated to ensure functionality?
2) If so, what happens if I do not update?
3) After doing research, I found that USB Loader GX can be updated simply through the internet. Granted, priiloader settings are set to block online updates for the wii, but would it still be safe (for myself and my wii) to do any updates to these three things via the internet?
4) Pertaining to USB Loader GX, is updating the loader and updationg cIOS the same thing? do both have to be updated?
5) Can someone link me to guides that show me how to update any or all of the software via the internet and/or other alternative methods?
Any question answered brings me closer to peace of mind. Thank you all in advance.

1) The loader should be updated for extra functions
2) No extra functions - no problems but new games etc may have issues, existing will be fine
3) Priiloader is set to block wii updates NOT GX, so you can updates through the internet
4)No, CIOS is a modified Nintendo IOS (the ios is what the game runs on)GX is your user interface to choose games etc. If you want to add newer games then you may get issues - needing an update, if you change nothing and it was working originally then it will remain the same.
5) Cios - use modmii (google will find) will help you update and give you a step by step guide. GX - update the .dol in the SD/apps/usbloader folder. or use the internet update
