usb loader gx

#1 06 Jan 2012 @ 18:56
I asked this question in another thread, but I suppose no harm in opening my own.

Basically I did the letterbomb hack (wii is 4.3E) and using this guide , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnQU34wCIoM. was able to get the wii softmodded. I now have 2 channels, neogamma (which can read iso's from a wbfs disk fine) and usbloader gx, which just opens and closes again. I do have an sd card with usbloader and other apps, and when I put in the SD card and run usbloader I get the following error,

"needs unstubbed cios 222 v4 or 249 v9+",

so I suppose a few questions,

can I fix that error ?
Is the usb loader gx channel useless, unless I have the sd card in the slot ?
I see a lot of people recommending modmii, is it safe to run this and basically re-softmod the wii again ?

thanks....

Yes run modmii, you have not installed the required Cios's

Once installed correctly you do not have to have an sd card, if your hard drive is formatted to FAT32 all the files can be on the hard drive.

thanks for the info, at the moment the drive is wbfs with the games on it. If I run modmii and then reformat drive back to fat32, can usbloader gx read the games from fat32 ?

thanks...

Fat 32 can be read for the games and homebrew, it is also a lot more stable than wbfs, the problem with wbfs is that if anything goes wrong you are stuck as the computer cannot read the disk. If its fat32 you have so many more recovery options - and you can defragment if you add and remove games.

thanks, after going through the mod-mii steps can now read the games from my fat32 drive.
