usb loader gx - Update to latest version?

I have used the update capability within the application, however it says I am upto date (V843) but on this site (http://usbloadergx.koureio.net/downloads/revisions) it claims the latest version is 849 So why can I not update?

Click to get updates online. Just because there is a newer revision than what you are using does not mean that it will be on the update server.
If you really want it, just download it manually and copy it over your existing one.

Ok thanks. So I can download the latest (eg r866.dol) and copy it the apps/usbloader_gx folder and rename it to boot.dol ?
Is this safe to use without any risk of bricking my wii? Just wondered why the update service had not been updated for a number of versions in between.
