I have used Nero forever. I recently had to give up my XP desktop and buy a new PC with windows 7, and of course my NERO will not work, so when I have to copy, burn backup etc, I have to use my laptop, because of course that nero works on VISTA(ugh)
I have read all of the reviews on amazon about version 10, 11 & 12 of nero and none are good, I need something on my desktop, that is easy, simple & cost effective. I loathe complicated. 90% of what I backup is already ripped, so I don't need high tech, besides my ripping programs still work fine. I tried downloading some free Nero burning program, that was worthless and installed a crapload of S*** on my PC. would appreciate any suggestions. thanks

Nero works fine has done since v5,come to think of it the changes in GUI is about all that's been done apart from adding extra modules which can be unselected, like all reviews treat them with the contempt they deserve till you've actually tried it,i'm at v10 works fine,i found v11 didn't suit my needs ,had no idea they were on 12 might have to give that a whirl.
only other software i can think of is imgburn its free & you'll see it mentioned a lot round these parts it works well,it was originally the burning engine in dvd decrypter so it will look familiar

Haven't used 12 ,nero 10 would be my pick as it has nero recode which looks strikingly like dvd shrink,v11 had some weird nero recode thing but way different to v10 recode which is why i switched back to 10

ok so I have narrowed it down to version 10 or the old version of 11. All I need is a burning program,(& yes I tried all the free ones and couldn;'t figure them out) 90% of my dvds are already ripped, I am just backing them up. I miss the old Xp days were I had old old nero and u just popped in the dvd it did its thing, popped it, u put in a blank and it made another dvd. took about 12 minutes.
