Nero 6 NeroVision Express, no sound from finished movie - help?

#1 10 Dec 2009 @ 21:13
Hi folks. Tearing my hair out here. I used DVD Shrink and saved 5 short kids' movies from 3 different DVD's to my hard drive in separate folders. I then opened my OEM Nero 6 NeroVision Express 3 to build a DVD with menu. I chose Add Video Files and it chose the VOB files in their respective folders. All appeared to be progressing well, I created a menu and finished by burning it to my hard drive. However, the finished product has no sound, but when I play each movie from their original source folder there is sound. I have not burned to DVD because I'm reluctant to create any more coasters than I have over the years.

I've gone into Program Files/Common Files/Ahead/AudioPlug-ins and found the following plug-ins:
Aac.dll
DefConvertor.dll
midi.dll
mp3PRO_dmo.dll
ogg.dll
aacenc32.dll
Downloaders.dll
mp3PP.dll
mp3PRO_hlp.dll
video.dll
Aiff.dll
lame_enc.dll
mp3PRO.dll
msa.dll, wav.dll.

… so I assume I have all the necessary plug-ins for audio.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Nero 6 four times, each time using my 24 digit Serial number (install screen automatically comes up populated with it). The instructions even show a screenshot of Default Video Options, at the bottom is Audio Format setting box, but when I open my NeroVision Express and go to Default Video Options, there is no Audio Format setting box at all. Is there something wrong with my installation, or am I missing a critical step somewhere along the way? I've been to countless forums on this topic and see that I am one among hundreds with the same problem, but no one has yet to offer what I'd hoped would be a pretty straightforward and simple solution. If anyone can provide an explanation I'd appreciate it and will share it on all of the many forums I’ve visited. Thanks.
