    hey guys

Anyone know how to add a .srt subtitle to a mkv movie? Its for an HD movie, so id like to retain the quality rather than convert it.

    thanks in advance.

If just playing it from your PC, a player like KM Player would allow you to simply add the file. (Right click on player -> Subtitles - > Load Subtitles).
If burning to disk, then I don't think it's possible without any conversion, I've tried many times and still can't find another way, other than using software like ConvertXtoDVD, loading the .mkv, and the .srt, then converting. I would like to know the answer to this question too if it's possible to do without any conversion.

The way to add the srt to the mkv is to mux it in using
mkvtoolnix/mkvmerge and create a new MKV.
