I have a movie where people are speaking japanese off and on. Now ,the subtitles will explain what they are saying, but is there a way of hardcoding english subtitles to appear only when they are speaking japanese? Is this possible? Please help.

    Probably.
What type of subtitles do you have.
Is this for a DVD movie?
    More info required.

These are english subtitles for a video file that has a fairly decent amount of japanese speaking. now,the subs work, but all i want is for when the people start speaking japanese that the english subs will automattically appear on the screen. Is this possible? And the subtitles i have are a regular .srt file with all the english subs.

If the video is an avi file, rename the subs to have the same name:
    somefile.avi
    somefile.srt
When the video is played the subs will automatically play too.
