Hello
Im trying to add subtitles to a avi with virtualdub but subtitles wont show up the subtitler filter when i use preview. I installed vobsub 2.23 and the Subtitler.vdf is in the plugin folder. Ive been reading for 1 hour but im unable to find a solution. Im using this guide http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/adding_subs_to_avi.cfm I hope someone can help me. Thank in advance!
I tried Textsub (VSFilter.vdf) but same result :(
What am i missing here?

Are the subs showing the correct time.
This one shows the first line starting at 20 seconds into the video.

Yes everyting looks ok. I even tried multiple other subs. I got a little bit tired of trying all kind of things so i used the same method and same files on my laptop and it works straight away. So the avi and ssa are not corrupt and working fine. My laptop is 32bit vista and my desktop is 64bit w7. Ive really no idea how to solve this. Im even thinking about reinstalling w7 :/
Atm ive these things installed :
virtualdubmod
vobsub
Subtitler.vdf
used auxsetup installed handler
ffdshow
divx codec
The avi and ssa are in the same folder and names are identical.
I really appreciated your reply. I hope you can help!

Instead of VirtualDubMod (hasn't been updated ever), can you download VirtualDub.
Copy the subtitler.vdf filter to the plugins folder.
Run VirtualDub and open the gray.avi that is included with the original download of the Subtitler package.
Select the filter and the demo.ssa file included in the download.
VobSub is not required, FFDSHOW is not required (if an installed codec is present) - although neither does any harm; the file names don't have to be the same and Auxsetup only comes into play when VirtualDub is serving to another application.
If it still fails to preview (encode it anyway to see if it is present in the encoded video when saved), you can post at:

Avery Lee wrote the filter (he also wrote VirtualDub) and there may be a wrinkle with Win 7 64 that has a bearing - although I use it without problems.

I just tried VirtualDub-1.10.0 linked in your description but im unable to load the gray.avi. I get this error :
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/851/virtualduberror.jpg/
The only info i can find about this codec is on this page http://www.fourcc.org/codecs.php and the link to the codec is unavailable.
I also tried the latest 32bit stable build VirtualDub-1.9.11 but i get the same error. The movie im trying to merge with the subs loads just fine but like i said the subtitles wont load. I'll be heading over to the virtualdub forum and see if i can get some answers.
Thanks alot for your time, its much appreciated!
