Hi, Usually when I play a movie in my PC some players enable to watch 2 different kinds of subtitles; 1) subtitles and 2) subitles for Deaf and Hearing impaired. Recently I purchaised from Amazon a DVD (of an old documentary movie). When I am playing it on my PC and select the "subtitles" option, it shows no subtitles; however, when I select the "subitles for Deaf and Hearing impaired" option it shows such (English) subtitles. The problem is, that when I am playing that DVD on my standalone DVD player it shows no subtitles (and there is no option to select "subitles for Deaf and Hearing impaired"). I thought to solve the problem first by converting that DVD - including the said subtitles for impaired - to AVI with AutoGK, however AutoGK didn't recognize those subtitles. Next I tried to extract the said subtitles from the DVD with SubRip, however SubRip did recognize no subtitles in that movie. Any idea how to enable watching of those subtitles AutoGK with a standalone DVD player? Thanks in advance stibi
Is it possible that the subtitles are in line 21 format. If they are, then it's a setting on the TV that turns them on. If they are closed captions, CCExtractor can save them as .srt files.
Hi attar and many thanks for your prompt and helpful answer. Indeed, the subtitles are closed caption and so CCExtractor saved them as srt. However - I don't know why - almost each sentence spoken in the movie appears in the srt in several lines. For example: 9 00:00:38,639 --> 00:00:40,138 WEHRMACHT, BRINGING HOME THE HORRORS OF WAR TO THE GERMAN 10 00:00:40,173 --> 00:00:41,539 HORRORS OF WAR TO THE GERMAN PEOPLE AS THEY HAVE NEVER 11 00:00:41,541 --> 00:00:41,572 PEOPLE AS THEY HAVE NEVER 12 00:00:41,574 --> 00:00:48,713 PEOPLE AS THEY HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED IT BEFORE. 13 00:00:48,715 --> 00:00:48,746 EXPERIENCED IT BEFORE. 14 00:00:48,748 --> 00:00:50,648 EXPERIENCED IT BEFORE. THIS WAS THE ALLIED To fix this one must listen several times to each such sentence in order to decide which duplicates to remove. I am going to contact the author of the CCExtractor, maybe He would know what could be the reason of the said problem. Anyway, thanks again stibi
At the VideoHelp site, there is a frequent poster 'usually_quiet' who seems to have insight in the CC area. You might consider posting there.
