    Hi

I have an 3rd generation ipod. I got it from a friend as she didn't want it, I knew it was broken but was hoping to sort it. when I first got it, it was low on battery so i tried to charge it via the pc and the mains adapter but it never seemed to recognize the either. So I bought a new battery and when I replaced it, it did work and I was able to browse the ipod but as it was a new battery it still needed to be charged but it still didn't seem to recognize any charging and now the battery is gone. I am not sure what's wrong and was hoping someone could help.

    With Thanks
    Jade

It would appear that the battery was not the problem it is something else. Since I have seen a 4 g Sansa Clip for 25 USDs that would be a safer investment. The old ipods like yours lasted a long time vs the new ones but they do die. Mine is still hanging in there but the controls do not work well any more. I don't that it will see a X-Mass after this one.

The newer ipod will NOT recharge the battery. You can only recharge it from an external USB charging device.
    About $20- at Wally Mart.

    tootall2, do you clasify a 3rd g as new? Didn't the 4g come out 3-4 years ago?

    You sound like an add.

I personally hate genius systems they make choces for me that are 95% wrong. I can make my own choices that way it is always right. I also just want it to play music that I put on. I don't want to pay for a 3-g network so I can surf the web on a tiny screen.
