creative nomad jukebox zen xtra wont turn on

I have a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 40GB.
I plugged it in via USB but it wont power on nor will my computer find that it is even plugged in. I have tried plugging it in using a 6v wall plug since i don't have the original but it wont even turn on like that.i read in the creative forums to plug it in the wall and then push the reset button but still wont turn on at all. any help would be nice thanks in advance
and i don't know what firmware is in it so i can answer that one i got it from a friend so don't know anything about it never even turned it on so I'm going in blind on this
