Agree with pretty much everything there.. EXCEPT this addiction to Vi.. it's archaic.. stupid editor from the dark ages before crt terminals!!! unfathomable.. especially when for the average computer user it doesn't make sense and unless you can be bothered reading the 400 page manual you haven't got a chance.
First thing I do on ANY *nix system these days is install nano.. there is NO NEED for Vi.. it's why 100% of new unix users give up and walk away in disgust until they find out you don't need to use the bloody thing to install nano.
