I have a bunch of ipod apps in ipa file format i believe it is can I run them on my mac in a widget or something?

No you can not run them on your mac as they are designed to specifically run on ipod/iphone and as far as i know there is no current ipod emulator except for the apple supplied one in iphone software development kit
