i bought an imac g3 rev.b and when i got it the cd drive didnt work. one day it worked perfectly all the sudden. then after a while i wanted to try to overclock the stock 233 g3 to 333. long story short, i ended up needing a new cpu. i got my 333 in about two days ago and it does everything fine as far as posting but the hd in it is blank. and now the cd drive is broken. im not sure if it has to do with my jumper settings (both are master) or if my cd drive is completely shot this time. it wont boot from an os 9.2.1 cd or a 10.3 cd. pearpc boots from the 10.3 but not the os 9.2.1 cd. but my imac does abolutely nothing when the os x cd is in and i have tried using open firmware and holding c with no results except the drive light is on and almost no activity its just steady on.

thanks for you guys' input (sarcasm). I have come up with a solution that may work. i am in the process of installing panther in pearpc on an image file the same size as the physical drive in my imac. i am hoping to clone the image to the drive and i have basically copied the imac in pearpc so it should boot fine. and i will have internet access and my pc network, so not haveing a working optical drive may not be so bad after all.
