    Hi,

I have started up my HP PC today running Windows XP. At the bootup start i have a screen saying American Megatrends. his is something which is not usually there. Also my time on the task bar was set at 00:00. This has started to go up, i have been on my PC for 40 minutes now and it reads 00:40. Also the daye says 1st January 2001.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be? I am in the process of scanning for viruses etc.

    Thanks in advance.

    Colin

    Hi,

The PC is about 7 years old. Nothing has been changed by me with the cmos.

    Thanks

if pc is a tower not a laptop then you need to replace the cmos battery which is a cr2032 type battery. it looks & is about the size of a quarter.
