I'm having a weird error with my apostrophe key. When i press the key the character doesn't show up, if i press any key after it it ether accents the character like so: ý or it will finally show up as an apostrophe. The quotation key simply doesn't show up when i type it, and only after i press another key does it show up. It started doing this recently and I can't think of anything that would make it act this way. any ideas/help is appreciated.
You need to find out if this is a hardware or software fault.The first thing i would do is try another keyboard, borrow one if you dont have one. It may be a matter of cleaning or replacing the keyboard if it proves to be hardware, or a system restore to a point before problem encountered may rectify a software problem.
Back in the good old days I would have suggested replacing keyb.sys with a known good version.. off a boot floppy.. these days it's not so simple, but it does still sound like a keymap fault.. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/map-any-key-to-any-key-on-windows-xp-vista/
