I just purchased a lite-on blu-Ray rom a few days ago and as far as I know it was working fine yesterday. Well today I put in a blu Ray to watch it and nothing happened. I went to the my computer folder and it wasn't listed anymore. I went to the device manager and it wasn't in there either. All my other drives still show up fine. What the hell happened? Does anyone know how to fix. I have google and googled and can't figure it. Someone please help. I'm about to just say screw it and completely restore my computer. I did use the program cc cleaner the other day to clean my registry. Might that have had something to do with it?

Thank you for the responce. After googleing and googleing and googleing I finally figured it out. The drive was not recoginized anywhere, not even in the bios. What I had to do was run the registry edit. There was something in there that had to be deleted. It was a wierd file called lowerfilter. After I deleted it and restarted it came back to life. I have no idea why what happened happened, but thank god it's working again. Here is the link if anyone else needs specific instructions. Thanks again for the responce. Have a good holiday

that won't work if the drive is not seen by the bios as windows gets it's info from the bios. you might still have a problem so keep an eye on it.

I had given up and reinstalled windows on a different hard drive. Once installed I plugged in the blu Ray drive and it wouldn't install the device driver. It wasn't seen in the bios on the new hard drive. Then I found my solution and put the original drive back in and did the reg edit. So maybe it was seen by the bios on the original hard drive after all.

I already said in my 2nd post I fixed it.
Do you have any idea why what happened to the registry happened so I can avoid it in the future?
