error updating windows vista

I am unable to update windows vista. Everytime i try i keep getting error message 80072efd. Would appreciate any help. Thanks

i already did this. it does not work. i have been on the internet almost all day, googling like crazy. not getting anywhere. so frustrating.

 

someone suggested clearing host file. clearing all but these to entries: 127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

is that a safe thing to do? he said it should be clear. there is a lot of junk in the file.

 

Make a copy of the folder and try it.

 

probably taking a risk here considering all the anti microsoft feelings,but why not go to the ms support site and pose the question.i had the same problem with xp and their email support was quick and right on the mark.and free.they pretty much walk you thru it.
