I think that a .dat file in a recent torrent folder is doing something to max out my CPU usage. Just wondering if anyone could run me through a HJT scan to try and figure out what's going on.

Resotring it to factory settings may have fixed the problem. That said a .dat file isn't an executable, so it couldn't have been affecting your CPU that much, unless its very big, in which case it would only affect your CPU when you were trying to open it. A quick glance at the log doesnt seem to indicate any problems. The high CPU usage could have come from people downloading your files through torrent software, check your settings to allocate the maximum amount of bandwidth etc. you allow other torrent users to access on your PC.
The DAT file only seemed to cause CPU problems when I tried to delete/modify it, which I was continually unsuccessful at doing. Even tried FileAssassin, Unlocker, and deleting with the CMD prompt without luck. Every time it would sent my CPU usage over 50%, most times over 75%, and it was always from explorer.exe
Well it's going to be from explorer.exe because that handles anything to do with files etc.. still not a good sign though. Have you tried using unlocker with the computer in safe mode? You could also try booting from a linux CD, and deleting the file that way. That would ensure the file is not being used by anything else at least.
Like I said, I just completely wiped my computer and started from square one. If the HJT log looks alright, would you think I'm in the clear? Anything else I can run?
If you completely wiped your computer, you're fine. If you're still worried, AVG Anti Virus and Ad-Aware scans will set your mind at ease, but they'd be unneccessary.
