Have you reset IE back to its default settings? I know flash has done some weird things with IE8. But the latest version of flash is working a Ok on my laptop (Win7 X64). Have you uninstalled and reinstalled flash? You were unclear if you have done that yet. It sounds like you have some stuff that is running as a BHO (browser helper object) ie. toolbars and such. Resetting will disable all of that.

Well there are always other browsers but I hate leaving something broke. Plus you will still have to install flash on what ever other browser you install.

yeah i dont like to be beat either. have uninstalled /re installed flash player. think your right about the BHO . have found error report about toolbar been responsible for a few of occastions . i emailed MS about problem and reply i got was to check out self help forum as my 90 days free support was up. or i could pay £46 quid for them to help. silly me thought buying full retail copy would give me more support. OEM edition would have been half the price lol. thank you for the reply's .

Well go through and kill off all the toolbars. Also a Hijack this log may be helpfull to see what attached to IE. Or use Auto Runs off the Hirens boot cd. Its alot more detailed.
