We just built a computer and have 2 hard drives. One is a 3.5" Western Digital Caviar Black - 500GB 7200RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s and the second is a 2.5" Seagate Momentus - 60Gb 5400RPM 8MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s. What we are wondering is if we can install just the windows 7 operating system on the 60Gb drive, but have the program files folder on the 500GB drive. Is that possible?

Yes that's possible. But usually you want your windows OS on the fastest drive.
As far as loading your programs on the other drive that will work fine. Thats how I install my games on a seperate partition/hard drive.

as jony said that is possible but installing it on the 500GB would be better as it is faster. I have 4 drives and install games on them.
