    Hi,
Looking for some help. Just bought a laptop and I'm having problems with windows media player 11. Been trying to get media player to work but it just keeps crashing.Get message media player has stopped working, but has never worked. Went into installed programs and no sign of media player.Tried to install a media player but says it cant as it's an older version. Do I have to reg it or anything else. Can't even get it to come up on screen.

Installed is windows vista home premium.

    Thanks.

This won't help but this is the exact issue I had with Vista Ultimate and WMP 11. WMP wouldn't open, couldn't be uninstalled (I couldn't find it), any version including the latest wouldn't install because it said I already had the latest. VLC had been installed and was working perfectly and as I hardly ever use WMP, didn't know for a week or so. Only way I found around it was to use another player, VLC was fine and I imagine other's like Media Player Classic would be as well. I had removed the Media Centre so may have been tied to that, interestingly, the Vista Codec pack didn't run on Vista either and I just wound up reinstalling XP.
