I recently bought a Compaq Presario CQ60-311SA notebook laptop. It came with Vista Basic installed and so i downgraded back to XP. I've got everything back working to the way it should but for one thing, the laptop has a HDMI port so i can view my laptop screen through my T.V. I get the picture with no problems but i don't get any sound through the T.V., just sound on my laptop. It was working fine when i was using Vista but not with XP. Can anyone help me with this problem please, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.
Well the laptop has a NVIDIA GeForce 8200M graphics card. Since you didn't give much information as to what you did driver wise I am going to assume you didn't install the appropriate drivers. Therefore here is the appropriate driver for the graphics card in your system: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winxp_186.81_whql.html It should allow you via the nVidia control panel to enable HDMI audio if that feature is available on that card. Even if it isn't you should install that driver. On the other hand are you sure that your laptop has Audio over HDMI enabled? It could be possible that that feature was disabled at the card/chipset level and that your stuck with audio via the headphone/line-out jack.
