Hi Everybody- I recently installed a new hard drive in my laptop and installed Windows XP Service pack 2, but the next thing I wanted to do was establish a internet connection so I can upgrade and install updates so my computer will be all up to date. But my problem is now that I cant get the computer to recognize a internet connection. I took my cable from my modem and plugged it in and the lights were blinking next to it but the computer does not recognize the signal. Can anybody there give my step by step instructions to set up a connection ??? I tried different things through the control panel, but none of those things got me connected. An help would be very helpful. Sincerely- Doug
Hi There- My Model (IBM Thinkpad Z61M) has an internal modem and a pcmcia slot. Now, I got this laptop without a hard drive, so once I purchased a new one, loaded my xp, service pack 2, it tried to use my modem cable which I plugged in and got a green light by it and (what I think) is a yellow activity light would blink but nothing else would happen. I also do not have any of the original software support disks as well. I hope this helps establish where I am now and hope you can direct me in the right direction. Let me know if you need any other information. Thanks- Doug
