Hi all, here's my problem... Im reformatting my hard drive back to day 1 with the windows XP disc I have from when I bought the laptop. When it has 39 minutes left I get the error message "cyclic redundency error" and something about a windows component missing. It re-starts the laptop and goes back to this bit and then restarts..... and so on and so forth! I have done a chkdsk r and a chkdsk f - all is well! I've tried using a different XP disc - same problem! I've accessed the BIOS and made sure it boots from disc - done! Can anyone shed some like on the problem... I have tralled the net looking for the answer with no luck! Cheers in advance!
try cleaning the laser lens of your rom drive. can you get or borrow an external rom drive & boot of that with your cd?
