When searching a directory that contains a video with a mpg extension, Windows Explorer shuts down. This happens under Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7 Beta 7100 the same problem exist. When restarting Windows Explorer and not searching a subdirectory with any video's in it, it works fine. When searching subdirectories with avi files again no problems in fact most all video files work without any problems but have an mpg file in the subdirectory and it shuts down. Remove the mpg file and Windows Explorer works fine. Are there any suggestions please?

Its a conflict (well documented) with the way windoze draws the thumbnails for the files.. it happens with avi files too. Switch the folder to list view solves the problem quickly

I had the same problem with avi files like varnull said. To permanently fix this problem open My computer, open View and select List (or Details). then go to Tools->Folder options. Click on View tab and then click Apply to all folders. No more thumnails problems :D
