windows keeps installing in polish instead of english

I recently found out the I had a virus on my computer. It was the antimalware doctor. After searching for ways to remove it without formatting, I eventually gave up and formatted. Once windows was reinstalled, I noticed that it was in polish. I'm english and thought maybe I accidentally selected polish. So, i tried reinstalling with english selected and it wont install in englsh it keeps going on in polish. I've looked in the language settings and theres nothing there. its odd that the polish setting actually worked because i dont have the language pack for my windows xp pro and have always used english. Any suggestions on what to do? I've been at this for 5 days now and am getting frustrated and am running out of things to try. thanks
