Hi, I have recently recieved a nasty virus that has taken over my computer. whenever I start my computer i get a blue screen saying, "The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate .
I have the drive partioned and i am able to access all files of the corrupt version of windows and i also have the disc that allows for opening command prompt, repairing windows, installing windows etc.
How can i go about fixing this problem so that my computer works as normal again?
    thank you.

first do a chkdsk c: /f from the command prompt. This works almost everytime to fix a corrupt windows partition.
