    Is the CPU 64 bit?
If it's 32 bit, use 32 bit drivers.

    Edit:

You wont be able to run 32 bit driver on a 64 bit OS.

NM, it is a Turion 64 bit CPU. I didn't see 64 bit XP drivers listed.

Seems there is a ton of issues with your laptop. One is running Vista 64.

give it a shot as it depends on what drivers you need which may be able to be got from manufacturer, say you need ethernet driver for a realtek go to realtek instead of hp,you'll also find perhaps a later model laptop has similar hardware try those drivers if it has 64bit xp,other option run it inside virtualbox,64bit is backwards compatible you may also find 32bit driver may work for stuff like audio etc

I looked on the HP website.
    0 XP drivers period.

I have yet to see 32 bit divers that will install on a 64 bit OS.
Who knows, maybe this will be a first for me.

Sounds like he will need more than Ethernet drivers.
The video uses shared memory and how about the rest of the chipset?

xp 64bit was pretty buggy aside from the lack of 64bit drivers.win7 64bit works great and has a large native driver base.i used xp,loved xp,but would no more go back to it than go back to horse and buggy.
