Trying to upgrade AVG 7.5 to 8.5 w/ a vista machine.
Error message avg up-grader cannot start 8.5 because package installation file is not specified.
please enter the installation file path and start setup

?? Why would you want to upgrade to ver. 8.5, it was replaced with ver 9 in OCT, 2009.
Lots of versions have gone by since then... lol
Here's the latest version of AVG:

But please remember, I didn't recommend it... there are better Free AV's..
