    Hey everyone,

    Could not do the online scan with Kapersky. The first time it quit at 23%, the second time I woke up and it said it had shut down *shrug* Don't know if it was a computer issue or internet.

    I could try to scan again on another internet connection in a couple days if it's critical. For now here is the HJT Log.

    I'm on a Toshiba Satellite A200-FS6

    Comodo?

    CCleaner + Defraggler

    Also make sure your boot drive i.e. C:\ has more freespace ratio than other drives for media, unless you don't have a partition, but if C:\ has less space move some stuff over to an external or to a media drive (if it is media files and not used in pc opperation, i.e. desktop stored files (not icons) and my music/my documents/my pictures could all be put in another place off C:\)

    Maybe try pagedfrg.exe defrag utility, download it, is small and defrags page file (select it to do this on boot, maybe just once) if your C:\ has not enough room for defragging, then that could be the problem. clutter.

    otherwise maybe just lacking ram to run webscans, which aren't that great anyway.

    try superantispyware portable, portable is free but has to be updated everytime you use it.

    Thanks s2anemone.
    I will give those options a try for sure.
    I try to declutter regularly. Music is my biggest use of space probably but I listen to just about everything most of the time.

    Anyone else have any other options?

    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry me again.
    Just to recap my post.

    http://computers.shop.ebay.com.au/E...pg=&_ssn=kelly.chen0913&_trksid=p3911.c0.m282

    Might be a solution to get some music off, and they barely use any power (probably 1/30th of a light bulb) and just have it plugged in to play tunes, which frees up your HDDisc i/o for operational tasks, so it isn't tracking read write of downloads and music play and running OS.

    And then you can take all your beats with you :D

    Doing a periodical SAS will be a good indicator if you have a virus (though commonly nothing is there to be found and it just nabs cookies) but it searches boot items, processes and reg entries, and Comodo is pretty good anyway, not to mention all free.
    And low on ram, but virus scans are a good time not to be doing other high end tasks, because disc i/o mostly, not so much ram.

    And just use money you save for one of those cheap custom External USB powered HDDs.

    But other than that try and do a decent Reg-clean, but backup reg first just encase it is too thorough. (normally offers to option, or just go (might be different for vista) :Run: :Regedit: _File_ _Export_ and export your whole registry then if you find problems after reg clean and they don't solve them selves after using for a bit and some boots. Import the Registry.

    Or if you are really trying to grab some extra speed:

    http://www.connectedinternet.co.uk/2007/10/19/10-simple-ways-to-speed-up-windows-vista/
    The xp version is useful I don't know so much about vista.

    ie.

    Step 6. Optimise your internet connection

    There are lots of ways to do this but by far the easiest is to run TCP/IP Optimizer.

    * Download and install
    * Click the General Settings tab and select your Connection Speed (Kbps)
    * Click Network Adapter and choose the interface you use to connect to the Internet
    * Check Optimal Settings then Apply
    * Reboot

    but yeah, someone else could have a better suggestion ^_^
