Just loaded win xp pro onto a new disk. Installed all updates and the KMPlayer as my mkv/avi, etc player.

The problem is when I double click any mkv/avi extention movie it does not open to play- no errors , no nothing ! I can right click on the file name and choose "open with...." and specifically open it with the KMplayer and it works.
I have checked the windows file associations and mkv are defintely set to open with the kmplayer. I know what I am doing when it comes to double clicking - other icons on my desktop do work when double clicking.

The other thing is if I change the mkv file association so that they open in windows media player then double clicking the files work and they open (but obvioulsy in windows media player), but reverting the association back to the KMplyaer takes me back to square one.

    Any clues , anyone ?

I have removed the file assoation completely and double clicking the mkv file brings up the assocation box. So I choose the KMplayer and mark the box to remember this setting. Still nothing.
Although interestingly when you now check the file assocations mkv are set to open in media classic player even though the icon is the kmplayer. changing it again and closing and re-opening to check still shows media classic player. the end results is it still does not execute anything when double clicking. The hour glass does come up for a brief split second !

Not sure whether to re-install kmplayer ?
