MB: ASUS Crosshair formula IV rev 1.x
    Ramm:patriot 2000EL 8GB x2 4GB
    Vid:Nvida 8800 GTS

    Notebook:HP Touch Smart TM2 with Icore5

Anyway it dose not matter how many tabs I have open(the more the faster it starts acting up) FF starts lagging and flickering on my PC but not on my notebook, its driving me nuts.

Games play fine(Cryisis,TFfall of cybertron, dishonored, ect ) so I do not think ramm is an issue, it never locks up like it did when I had mismatched ramm/mobo so this I dunno.

Also a hardware Q would it be worthwhile going to a 8 core AM3 or be better off going with a new mobo/cpu?

Firefox has gone seriously downhill, have you tried Chrome?

I'm sure there are alternatives - or code your own ;) I think Chrome supports .js scripts loaded in from outside of the Extensions "store".

I'm never using FF again though, it's - like you've experienced - so laggy/buggy/generally horrible to use. Chrome has definitely got a bit more resource heavy but it's the best bet IMHO. Perhaps give Opera a go, and then I'm out of recommendations.

The flash plugin is causing problems on all of my pc's with firefox. IE runs the same websites fine. I'm guessing adobe updated some code that causes the plugin to crash and lockup firefox. On youtube videos will freeze but the sound will keep playing.

Sadly firefox has gone downhill, i still refuse to use Chrome or IE.
