When i load IE i instantly get an error message that is

Cannot find 'file///C:/program%20Files/AOL%20Toolbar/welcome.html: Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.

i've searched around on the web and havent found a good answer. Can anyone please be of assistance? And is there a better program than Internet Explorer out there?

    Hi,

Ive done a bit of googling and you may need to do a registry edit.

First though in IE explorer try resetting by going to tools-Internet options-Advanced and reset explorer settings.

If that does not work uninstall any AOL toolbar from add and remove programs and try.

If that does not work go to Start-Run( Start-start\search in Vista) and type msconfig, go to start up tag and deselect anything relating to AOL and then restart.

Next check Registry to see if this exists.

    In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] look for a key called something like "First Home Page" = C:/Program Files/AOL Toolbar/Welcome.html

If it is there you could either replace the last bit for something like http://www.google.co.uk or delete first home page key altogether.

A lot of people use Mozilla firefox (free) as opposed to IE, i have both but tend to use IE.
