Is it possible to burn an ISO file + additional data?

    Is it possible to burn a bootable ISO file so that the disc were bootable and use the remaining free space on the disc to burn some additional data? If it is, what software can do it?

    It's supposed to be doable with Imgburn to extract the boot sector - but I could never make it work.
    It can actually be done using UltraIso.

    Locate the ISO and open it in the lower pane.
    The files appear in the top pane.

    Add/drag some files.
    Then click 'File' > 'Save'.
    A new iso is created (the original is saved).
    I burned the new iso with ImgBurn ------

    ----and booted the PC:here;s one of the extra files on the CD.

    Just FYI I have had good luck using WinRAR to open the ISO and edit in the files I want.

    Does the edited image boot the PC - I haven't been able to make an 'edited' bootable image except with the shareware apps (which have the 300MB limit, unless registered).

    I've tried the likes of ImgBurn and others which lets you extract the boot image from the iso or disk, but no freeware I've used can give me a bootable disk after I edit the iso.

    Recently tried CDImageGUI and Free ISO Create Wizard and they failed to give me a bootable image.

    The only interesting one mentioned as valid on my searches - that I haven't tried - is Nero Burning ROM - but I don't have Nero anymore.

    I can now add files to a a Linux live CD iso up to the capacity of the disk and have it boot OK.
    It requires ImgBurn and mounting the iso on a virtual drive (although you could probably use WinRar or 7Zip in lieu of the virtual drive software).
    I won't post the steps, since it's of limited interest generally - but if anyone wants the steps, I will.

    It's easy.. been doing it for years, just open up the iso, add your files and then make a new iso.. Dunno about winblows.. linux users do this stuff all the time to modify our own homebrew operating system disks whether modifying an existing release or creating completely new from scratch..

    Try it with a few different floppy images.. nothing better than seeing a live windows 3.1 or sco-unix running from cd.. good for parties etc ;)
