Hopefully I'm posting in the right section.

    Anyway, if any can help....

I've taken on a small project for my Vet. I got a USB capture device that works great for recording video via Composite. We are using it to take snap shots from a scope that he uses on animals. The problem is, is that the video quality is good but taking "Live Snapshots" are not as good or as clear as the video.

Anyone know of any good free or trial software that will play back video files and allow snapshots to be taken from the video while the video is playing or paused? Something similar to Power DVD in the aspect that power dvd can take snap shots while playing.

Thanks for any help with this.

VLC is free and can (under Video I think). Also Media Player Classic (free as well): file>save image. Both excellent players but go with MPC if you don't need VLC's contained codecs (lighter).
