Laptops in and of themselves themselves are region free.

Do you mean the DVD drive? That's a function of the DVD player software.

when yea buy a laptop in Ireland. all laptops are regions. now it will allow you to change to what ever region 4 times. thats all. then you can't change it back.

The setting for choosing regions is for when your playing physical DVD discs and doesn't effect playback of video files on the computer. Unless of course you do plan to play DVD discs from various regions in which case Google is your friend try for example region free DVD drive.

try software like 'DVD43' or 'AnyDVD'... both should work well. first is freeware, second is probably better but does cost $$.

That's a load of crap.. spammerware there ^^^^^^^

what you need to do is after the 5 region changes are up you just flash the firmware back to factory again.. hey presto.. 5 more changes... There are even forever region free firmwares out there for a lot of drives... though laptop dvd drives have such a short lifespan I don't think you will ever need to flash them more than 3 or 4 times.

How do I do that, are you talking reinstall the firmware for the dvd drive from the computer make main website and that resets the region codes.

Am I on the right track ? I keep my laptops well. not often but sometimes like to sit down and watch a dvd on it relaxing.
