I Cant get Sonic Riders to install on my Windows Vista, How can I get it to work ?!

-_-; alright i have sonic riders for the PC
and its windows XP compatible, well Since Vista has this backwards compatibilty crap i switched it to windows XP/2000
and its still not letting me install it

when i do go to place the disk in the first time
i do get the installation screen but when i click install
it says "please place Sonic Riders Disk 1 in and try again"

and i would like to play it on my laptop but i dont know what to do
and i went to the game manufactures website and they dont have the patch

T^T can someone please help me ...
