RAR problems extracting

Hi,
I have been using WinRAR for ages now to download items from Rapidshare. Recently I have been experiencing issues.
When I extract the part 1 of the rar archives (or the single archive if only one part), I get approx 30 new RAR files extracted. These have very short names like 39a.rar, 39.rar, 40a.rar, 40.rar etc...
When I extract these new archives, nothing happens and it is frustrating me to high heaven! This has only just started happening and I wondered if there is a change that I don't know about!
