newbie here....
info:
i have a PS2 with a busted lens. so i send it to a technician hoping to repair it but according to him i will be spending much if I'll have the lens repaired so, he suggested on soldering mod chip so i can still load my games on the HDD... i already have the modded PS2. i installed my games through winHIIP but it did not load when i turn my PS2 on.
my question is;
How can i load my games without using CD's, DVD's or Memory card??? What software should i install to load my games?? I have tried installing HDloader on my HDD through winHIIP but it did not load. it only give me a black screen.
please help me..

it doesn't work like that. if your lens doesn't work, then you either need a modchip that can boot .elf files, or have freemcboot on the memory card that has the hdloader elf.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8b - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 5.00 m33-6
wii (powered by bootmii): 4.1u - cIOSX_rev19 (base IOS57) - configurable usb loader v56b - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure
got a whole lot more to list . . .

Did you set mode 3 for the hdloader you installed on the hdd.
Otherwise you will get black screen.

you sure that works smoky? because as far as i know, there is no way to directly boot hdloader on a hdd. and the ps2 does not allow any direct booting from hdd in any way. installing hdloader via winhiip cancels eachother out, since you need to boot hdloader in order to see the list.
so that leaves the .elf version, which either needs to be booted via exploit/freemcboot/modchip boot.

This is how people using HDadvance 3.0 disc can use the latest hddloader that is copied to the hdd.
It is explained here - link
and here - link
With some modchips, you can load files in Dev 2 mode
I don't have a modchip, but I use ffgrievers igr_hdl_rev2, played a game, then reset and launched uLe ISO from my hdd if say I wanted to do something else.

so you still need a disc drive, which the OP doesn't have due to bad lens. says that you need the retail hdloader/hdadvanced disc to boot first. what you're telling the OP is that all you have to do is set mode 3 on the hdloader iso, and it'll boot without running anything else first.
to keep everything simple, freemcboot or a dev2 boot modchip is needed. it'll completely bypass the laser. and considering the OP has a modchip, it probably has dev2 boot because any other modchip would be useless without the drive.

Yes that was just an example I gave using hdAdvance, so yes you would need disc drive in that case.
But he must have Dev 2 and Dev 1, as he said the technician put his own hdd in his PS2 using his network adaptor and it worked.
I know if he had a Matrix or Modbo chip this is possible, even with a non working laser as long as you already had Dev 1 installed.
So for the OP, it is just a matter of if he is copying the hddloader properly to his hdd and setting mode 3.
