ok stepson drops ds lite, breaks hinge, so i bought a new upper screen and just to test i plug it up and make sure the ribbon is as far in as possible and check the bottom screen ribbon, everythings fine. power on it turns on, loads a nintendo screen at the top and then puts a white screen at the top with grey lines running up and down and across like a checker board. if i hit the r button it goes to a screen that wants me to put a name in i think, its hard to test the buttons because i have it all apart because i wanted to make sure the screen was the only thing wrong with it. i have looked and cant see that anything else would be wrong, i hooked the black and white wire too just in case it was causing a problem but nothing changes. thanks for any info.

put the rubber contact pad on top of the contacts and you can press the buttons you require the L and R buttons you can press underneath, i found it easier when testing when you put the bottom piece of the shell on so it can hold the battery and you can slot power, volume and L and R buttons in.

Could be a bad lower screen or a bad mainboard. I've seen it be either or both.
