So, I got a ds lite for close to nothing, don't wanna buy a flash cart, and decided that it would be totally sweet to hardwire a SD card slot into the ds lite's card slot. I'm sure it's possible, but I need a tutorial or an expert to help me.

    Nope not possible

only the dsi the dsi xl the 3ds and the 3ds xl have sd card slots the ds lite wont read the card because it's software isn't designed to you need a flash cart..

However if you want to play gameboy advance rom's on the ds lite all you need is the gba movie player
