There are so many R4 cards, and you will need to get the exact files for yours to work.

Do you know where you got the card from (website?) they usually have a download section.

If you didnt get it from a website, does it give you a web address on the packaging at all?

This may be the website for your card, its worth a try...
    http://www.r4rts.cn/download-en.htm

Download the first Kernal(Firm ware Files)

Its not wise to just replace one file as it may be for a different release of the firmware, so i would copy your games and saves to a PC and format the SD card and then copy ALL the new firmware files to the card (you will be able to play newer games too then) then copy back you games/saves

Well the only solution is to wade through the 50 types of R4 card firmware.

Do not put on any roms just the firmware and see if it will boot, start with the likely suspects first.

As the above post says you will need to keep trying different firmwares until you find yours... unfortunately

as you didnt mention extracting ...you did extract the files and folders from the zipped firmware file you downloaded didnt you?
